Vinodh Pillai is a freelance and independent journalist with interests in Malaysian current affairs, politics, health, lifestyle stories and the lived realities of LGBT folks and sex workers.
His Diverse Voices project focused on the stories of Malaysia’s sex workers, stories that don’t get told in the media and are often made a mockery of by those who don’t understand why sex workers are in the industry.
Four English-language stories (and 10 translations) were published on Queer Lapis, a local LGBT resource site, in December 2020, touching on themes such as the history and ongoing advocacy of sex work in the country, challenges faced by male sex workers and legal and communal resources to help and empower the sex worker community.
The last story will be published at the end of the month.
